      When you stop the service from the GUI, it doesn't stop the process.
      When the service is running, it can't connect to the pool.ntp.org
      I set mine to  (see below) still didn't work.
      Selecting multiple interfaces, enables listing on multiple interfaces.  I can see that in the conf file the GUI creates.

      server 0.north-america.pool.ntp.org
      server 1.north-america.pool.ntp.org
      server 2.north-america.pool.ntp.org
      server 3.north-america.pool.ntp.org

        Turning off the server portion will NOT stop the client.  The client continues to run to sync the local system time even if it is not serving clients.
