Hello there, I have a HP DC7800, 4GB RAM, 160 GB of hard disk running PFsense 2.0 with multiwan and squid cache poxy, I am not sure of the cache memory values I should set mainly:

      • Hard disk cache size.
      • Hard disk cache system
      • Memory cache size
      • maximun object size
      • Maximun object size in RAM
      • Memory replacement policy
      • Cache replacement policy
There are some many point of views that really confuse me, any help on this will be really appreciated, does anyone have a setup similar to this that could help me?

      Thanks in advance.

            Hi,

I have got same amount 0f RAM: 4GB and just 74GB HDD:

            I am using this:

            • Hard disk cache size.
              30720

            • Hard disk cache system
              ufs
(increased vfs.read_max  in System Tunables to 128 -> better performance)

            • Memory cache size
              1024

            • maximun object size
1048576 (want to cache large files up to 1GB - windows updates)

            • Maximun object size in RAM
              256

            • Memory replacement policy
              Heap GDSF

            • Cache replacement policy
              Heap LFUDA

            • Minimum object size
              128
(I do not want to have small files on HDD, only in RAM because the time I will lose that squid is searching a small file on disk is higher than the time to download this file instead of searching)
