      Hello,

I have installed the compact flash and when booting it says this:

      F1 - PfSense
      F2 - PfSense
      F6 - PXE

What is the difference between the F1 and F2 boot options?

      Regards.

I assume you are running the NanoBSD image?

The NanoBSD images have two boot slices (partitions) and a shared configuration file. When you update your system it will overwrite one slice and then switch to boot from it. That way, if there is a problem, you can switch back to the original slice. F1 and F2 are the two slices you can choose to manually boot from.

        See: http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/NanoBSD_Diagnostics

Yes I am running NanoBSD version.

I see so it's like a backup version… that's very clever and I'm sure very useful in the event of problems or for testing.

          Thank you for clarification. :)
