Basic url filter

  • I see some url filters out there to use, but I just want some opinions first. I am looking for a package that is capable of blocking sites, such as social networking sites, adult content, and any other thing that does not need to be in the work place. What package would be recommended for rc2.0 on a pentium 4 running 1gb ram with about 20 computers connected. Also if there is one that is capable of allowing specified computers on the network access to sites while blocking others would be nice too.

  • First upgrade your rc2.0 version to 2.0.1 release.

You can use squid + squidguard packages.

Ip lists like spamers, ads, proxies can be applied using pfBlocker.

  • Ah yes, this is very nice thank you. Will be very handy :)
