I just tried manually updating my 2.0 build to the new 2.0.1 using the system->firmware page. I browsed for the file: pfSense-Full-Update-2.0.1-RELEASE-amd64 and clicked "upgrade firmware" but it takes stuck at this screen for several minutes already:

When it is stuck, I need to shutdown and turn on the pfsense box to gain access to 192.168.1.1 again and everything is working properly with the old 2.0 version. What am I doing wrong? Why is it just stuck at that?

You can try another browser or update via console.

I have 100% successfull updates when I transfer update file to pfsense hardware and then upgrade via console.

Tried two other browsers already and same result. Is this common for other people?

I haven't tried console yet. I used automatic update and it downloaded the file and upgraded successfully.

I haven't seen that happen personally. What browsers did you try? I know it works on FF and Chrome for sure. The nice thing about Chrome is that it reports the upload progress % as it uploads the firmware, so you can tell if it gets stuck during the upload process or after.

Also you can do a console update by URL over ssh and paste in a URL for the upgrade file, or if your auto update path is right you can just type "auto" there.

The Auto update worked with no problems. Before trying the Auto update, the manual update did not work for FF, IE, and Chrome. For Chrome, yes it does upload it to 100% but as I've said nothing happens.

The manual update did the same thing for me when I updated. I thought it was just my setup. :) I could only get auto update to work as well.

This worked for me but it took a while. I waited and after about 20 minutes, it was still stuck on the upgrade firmware screen so I decided to walk away and leave it. I came back 4 hours later and there I was look at a 2.0.1 install.

Over serial I saw a lot of things happening (actually it was looping) when reinstalling the OpenVPN Client Export Utility (only package installed).

In fact it was 3400 lines in the log between "One moment please, reinstalling packages…" and "Bootup complete" showed up! All things went fine though :)

It seems that this problem is experienced by a handful of people now.
