I want to move my setup from an "old" box to a "new" box. I know how to backup the config file. My question is when I restore it into the "new" box, are things like the wan/lan interface going to need to be edited??

Any potential hardware differences going to need to be changed?

First install pfsense on new box and check hardware compatibility as well interface differences between both.

Then carefully edit old box backup config file to match new server.

If you just restore config from old box to new box you will be asked to reconfigure interfaces if mismatches.

So, you are saying to edit the xml file, and correct the few differences in hardware before importing the "restore" into the new box.

          That makes sense. Thanks.
