      Hi all,

      version=amd64

      I tried first via web -> system -> firmware -> manaul update, the web page eventuly timed out, I monitord the console for a reboot and nothing happened
      I then upgraded from the console from file, it went through the motions, said upgrade complete, this happened in about 2 sec, ,rebooted, but version still shows 2.0-RC1.

      listing the /conf/upgrade_log.txt the line says "Firmware upgrade is complete. Rebooting in 10 seconds"

      I checked further up in the upgrade_log.txt file and found this:
      tar: Unrecognized archive format
      tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

      looks like a tar extraction error

      any help would be much appreciated

              What browser did you use to download the file? Are you sure it didn't decompress the image first?

              I'd try a console update by URL and pass it the complete URL to the update image on one of our mirrors

                browser = IE

                I  did a tar tzvf of the update and it lists it , so it is not corrupt

                  So is the file "/root/update" or "/root/update/pfsense-full-update-2.0.1-release-amd64.tgz"?

                  Because when you run the upgrade, you need to give it the full path including the filename, it looks from the output like it was just reading /root/update which if it's just a directory, wouldn't work
