      Hi,

I'm running pfsense 2.0.1 on a box containing a broadcom BCM4310 based wifi adapter. This is on the list of supported hardware for FreeBSD 8.1 but it does also require 3rd party firmware, which is easy enough to install on vanilla FreeBSD through ports.

      Instructions go something like:

cd /usr/ports/net/bwn-firmware-kmod && make install clean && rehash

      kldload bwn_v4_ucode.ko
      kldload if_bwn

Can someone tell me how to do this in pfsense? Or Should I extract the firmware from the proprietary driver using a different system and manually put it somewhere (/boot/firmware??)

      Many thanks

JimP has usefully uploaded a complete collection of kernel modules for 2.0 including bwn_v4_ucode.ko, here.
Copy the file to /boot/kernel (possibly /boot/firmware  :-)
Test it manually as you said above.
        If it works modify /boot/loader.conf.local

          Excellent! Thank you Stephenw10.

The list brings another question regarding acpi, but I'lll start a new thread for that.

          Cheers!
