tomorrow im going to get the minix:) and i have ordered a 2.5 sata drive, so how could i install pfsense?
can i install trought usb? if so, how do i do it?Install the SSD drive in the MINIX box. From another machine, download an appropriate 2.1 memstick image (either 32 or 64 bit). Create a USB boot stick using the memstick image (dd the image to the device). Boot the MINIX box using the USB stick and it will walk you through the install. Pretty easy…
BTW, the other thing you will want to do is turn on TRIM for the SSD (not on by default). You can search the forums to get instructions on doing it...

ok, thank you, but i havent ordered any ssd disk, its a common 2.5 s-ata disk, i hope this will work anyway?

hi again,
i have now installed pfsense using a usbstick, it Went extremly good,no problems at all, i have also installed strongvpn and it runs pretty good, im a bit unpleased with the speed i get, of a 100mb/s down i get only 20 mb/s down, could there be any other settings that can make the speed go up ehn i use openvpn?
i was thinking if if i really use both of the cores in the cpu or only one?
the cpu speed is supposed to be very important when it comes to openvpn speed, or is it possible to overclock the cpu?

So you're using an Atom D2500? What encryption level/type are you using? What is the CPU usage showing? Try running 'top -SH' at the console while downloading via the VPN.

is it possible to get this minix router/computer to automaticly start itself after a Power failure?
as for now we have some Power issues and the Power goes down sometimes, the problem is that the router wont start when the Power returns, i need to start the router by pushing the start button at the front,and that sucks:( -
If it is possible, it's a setting in the BIOS. There should be a setting under "Power" called "After Power Failure" which you can set to "Stay off", "Last State" or "Power on".

The BIOS has a setting for "always on" on power failure which is useful in my case because the firewall will be installed quite remote.

i found the settings in the boot menu, i have set the Power to "Power on" and i have tested it, i pulled the plug and plugged it in again, but it doesnt start, i have to push the start button to start it, what is the problem?

Do you have the most recent BIOS? I seem to remember a bug of this type in type Intel bioses.

i really dont know which version of BIOS i have, i have searched after bios firmware for this computer on the net but i almost cant find any info about this computer, in the Power setting in BIOS i also checked the Wake on lan option, but how do i Wake the router/computer through lan/wan? i have never used Wake on lan Before.
i guess that if its impossible to get the router to automaticly when the Power fails, it would be nice to be able to Wake the router from distance, but how do i do it?

so you didnt need to uppdate the bios for it to boot automaticly?
i have looked at the link you provided, but im a bit unsure of which one to choose, i have read the detailed description, but im still unsure, i have never uppdated/programmed a BIOS Before, so i dont really know of how to do it, can i be done as simple as pluging in an usb and flash it that way?

Intel has clear instructions for how to update the BIOS on their site. You can find all the info with the motherboard model name / number.

Nope, I didn`t have to flash BIOS to boot auto after power loss BUT I strongly recommend to update bios.
Just download second file "CCCDT10N.86A.0039.BI.ZIP" and extract all 3 files to you USB flash drive and MAKE SURE that USB flash drive (key) is formatted to FAT32.
Power off everything. Plug in USB and then power on everything.
Then look for I think it was F7 to enter bios flash tool (http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-030144.htm)From there you can flash BIOS. After flash is successful, remove mainboard battery and before that clear CMOS. Battery is OK to be removed for 5 minutes…
Assemble everything together and boot to BIOS.
You should see this power option in BIOS... -
