Carp with double WAN
-
Hello,
I'am reading http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Setting_up_CARP_with_pfSense and http://pfsense.bol2riz.com/tutorials/carp/carp-cluster-new.htm concerning carp with 2 pfsense.
My question is: can i have 2 reals wans instead of have one ? we must only do the modification on each wan?
Thanks,
-
Yes, it will just work with multiple WANs/Interfaces the same way. You just have to do some abstraction.

Hi and thanks for your answer.
In the tutorial for the carp. he says:
"In real life, you will have to use 3 public static IPs on Wan"
1. Why use 3 Public IPs?? So 3 WANs?
2. For the users, they don't care. Their gateway will be left.pfsense.local? Right? -
It requires one IP address per CARP cluster member.
So if you have 2 physical CARP cluster members then you will need 2 addresses for the machines and then start adding the CARP virtual IP's on top of it.

Please see this post for the diagram of the dual wan + carp cluster + connection failover.

By the way, i want to ask you how to configure Carp with 2 WANs with 2 real IPs. I'm quiet newbie for pfsense product.
This is my diagram…pls see my attachment picture.
Thanks for your help.

It won't work with only 2 IPs per WAN. You need 3 IPs, one for each real interface, one that can be shared between the systems.

Thanks for your help, Hoba
if i have 3 real IPs : 212.172.11.27, 213.172.11.27, 214.172.11.28.
Although i have read the tutorial many time but seem i not be able to understand well so that you can base on 3 ip real ips and give me some major setting on pfsense.
To ngoc ( may be you are VietNamese) ::)
Can you give me your email i want some questions about the pfsense want to ask you. Thanks Ngoc so much
