      Hi,

When I initially setup pfSense I was using spare parts to build the system, this included a 250GB SATA HDD, I have since obtained a smaller device and would like to move the OS to that drive (once again running SATA).

What is the easiest way to achieve this?

      Thanks

      Chris

If the second hd is smaller then first, I would prefer to reinstall pfsense and restore the backup.

Okay, thats fine, no issues doing that. But what about settings in packages?

For example, if I restore a backup will it also reinstall and reconfigure UnboundDNS, Certificates, NTOP etc? I've got my setup working pretty well right now and I'd like to keep it as similar as possible.

Everything That is in XML file will be in backup.

Install the second box, restore backup file and look for What is missing, then power off old server.
