I'm trying to add a new interface in pfSense 2.0.1. I go to the "Interfaces -> Assign" section and in the very first tab "Interface assignments" I'm able to see all of my interfaces but there is no plus sign in the bottom right corner of the screen which would allow me to add a new interface just like the other 4 were added.

I need to add this interface in order to bind it to specific IP address. Any help or advice on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

There can be an interface for each network port that pfSense sees - the dropdown list in the Network port column shows all of them. Once you have an interface for each of these then the "+" sign goes away. I recently added a 3G USB dongle and it happily saw the new PPP0 network port. I assigned it to the next OPTn interface name, then the "+" sign is no longer visible.
Exactly what interfaces do you have, and what network port entries are you expecting (vr0, vr1, vr2, ppp0 etc)?
Is some hardware not appearing in the network port dropdown?

As the Greek philosopher Isosceles used to say, "There are 3 sides to every triangle."

I must be missing something: Why do you want to do this? Why not assign the specific IP address to one of the existing interfaces? Or assign the specific IP address as an additional IP address for one of the existing interfaces?
