      I recently upgraded to pfSense 2.01 and after updating I find that I can't access some apps via wi-fi through my iPhone. The iTunes store, Facebook, etc. Email works fine, web browsing works fine. I have other computers/tablets that are able to through wi-fi with no problem. If I go to other wi-fi hotspots with the iPhone it has no problem accessing iTunes store and FB. I have rebooted the pfSense box and it doesn't seem to help and there is nothing that I can find in the logs that give me any kind of clue. Where to start looking?

        It would probably help if you were more specific: which apps? what happens when you try to access one or more of those apps? what do you expect to happen?

          App store - 'Cannot connect iTunes store'
          Facebook - 'no Internet connection'.
          I would say that it seems to be HTTPS but I can get to HTTPS through Safari.

            Strange.

            I'm having a pfSense setup at my work, like this:

            ADSL <-> WAN(PPPoE mod-m) <-> [WAN] PFSENSE [OPT1] <-> switch <-> Acces Points (gateway mode) <-> iPhone (Wifi)
                                                        [LAN] <-> switch <-> (a whole bunch of coperate PC's)

            The OPT1 IP = 192.168.2.1  (LAN = the default 192.168.1.1)
            My iPhone has an IP like 192.168.2.50 on the Wifi (portal) network.

            Apps like iTunes, Facebook etc connect just fine, ones I'm authenticated with my iPhone.

            Your Wifi acces is on what interface ? LAN ? OPT1 ?
            Do you use the portal function ? On which interface ?
            The Acces point is in gateway mode, router mode ?
            What are your firewall rules on the LAN and/or OPT1 interface ?

            @sackerman:

            I find that I can't access some apps via wi-fi through my iPhone.

            "apps" are sites on the Internet ?
            "apps" in your iPhone ?

            @sackerman:

            The iTunes store, Facebook, etc. Email works fine, web browsing works fine.

            ???*
            So, Facebook, iTunes, both on the net, work well … or not ?
            Or ?

            No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
            Edit : and where are the logs ??

              I don't have any problems either. There might be something wrong with your config or you have some other packages that are messing with communications. Please let us know what extra packages you have installed and perhaps any special config you have going on.

              You could also start with traceroutes and DNS lookup to make sure those are happily working.
