Speed testing in the uk

For people that live in the UK may be interested in this to help them with there traffic shapping if your using ADSL max.

Goto http://www.speedtester.bt.com/ eter your details and run the test.  This will tell you what download rate you can get. Note you want to know the IP profile to indicate what you should get and the actual is what speed you got on the test.

With the upstream use that and take between 5-10% off for the adsl overheads.

Now enter these details into your traffic shape and that should improve how effective your traffic shaper is.

NOTE: This can chnage every 3 days ish depending on how good you line is.
