I'm new to pfSense and have been playing around with it this week.  I've installed it a few times on a server and out of the box have it working properly.  Last night I installed pfBlocker and Snort configuring them both without any issues.  Now today when I login to the pfSense box, I am getting an "unable to communicate with www.pfsense.com. Please verify DNS and interface configuration, and that pfSense has functional Internet connectivity" on the Available Packages page.

I can properly resolve www.pfsense.com from DNS Lookup within pfSense and on my windows server behind the pfSense box, however I can't browse to the Package tester URL (http://www.pfsense.com/pfSense/pkg_tester.php) from my internal server nor to www.pfsense.com.  I have disabled pfBlocker and Snort and still no luck getting access.

I don't understand what is wrong nor why it is all of a sudden happening the following morning after having everything working properly and nothing else has changed.  Please advise what I should be looking at.

      Thanks,
      Josh

Well I figured it out - turns out there was an entry in Snort's Blocked list for the pfSense.org IP address.  Removing that and I was able to access the site.  That said, why if Snort was disabled on the WAN interface would it still be using the Blocked list?
