Errors on interface
-
Hi all
I am running 2.0.1-RELEASE on Vmware esx 4.0
I have noticed, over about the course of a week, my lan interface builds up errors in the stats screen. So far I have around 37000 errors (and around an 8day uptime).
I have tried switching physical switchports but the errors have remained.
Any ideas?

what stats screen, within the VM, or at the ESX host level?

Apologies, I forgot to enable notifications for this post!
At the home screen for the PF sense interface:

I never had any assistance :(. I am still experiencing the problem.

It is possible the driver for the particular interface might provide a breakdown of the error counters into particular categories (e.g. buffer overrun, bad FCS etc). What is the FreeBSD interface name of that interface? As best I recall there is no standard way of reporting such statistics which may or may not be kept by the specific driver.

It is true that I have problem only with a new lan card. It is Intel Pro 1000 with 2 Giga NICs. The Pfsense has discover it without problem and I don't have install any extra driver for it.

On 2.0 and newer versions, the better drivers include details on errors in sysctl output. For instance if you have those errors on em0, run: sysctl -a |grep em0
and you'll see specifics on what they are.
