Nanobsd on Atom Nvidia ION

I am able to successfully setup and run pfsense on my Acer Aspire Atom dual core (1.6ghz) with the Nvidia ION chip set (MCP79) utilizing the memstick version of the live cd. However, the nanobsd (2.0 4g image file) version does not recognize the LAN NIC, so I am not able to set anything up. I have looked the hardware compatibility list, and the nvidia ION chipset is listed (uses nfe4 driver). I am using a USB cable modem for my WAN and both the livecd memstick version picks up the cable modem as well as the nanobsd version.
Am I missing something? are certain drivers not support by the nanobsd version? thanks.

Driver support should be the same. Are you sure you're using the same pfSense version? You should be using 2.0.1. It shouldn't matter since support for mcp79 has been included since FreeBSD 7.1, ages ago!

Using 2.0.1 for both the embedded and live cd versions. With the VGA/keyboard version is there a way to dump the startup log to a text file so I can see if something is not being recognized properly?

The log from each boot is stored in /var/log/dmesg.boot.
That's a ram disk so it's lost when you reboot.Steve

Go to shell (assuming you cannot access via LAN since the interface is not detected), type 'dmesg'
That's will give you the startup diagnostic messages. If you can mount a thumbdrive, then you can copy the dmesg.boot file or pipe the dmesg output into a plaintext file.
