    hello everybody

i have  created an FTP server in computer  behind PFsense
and have created dynamic DNS  to  my WAN IP  for accessing thsi FTP  to internet

when i'm connecting to my FTP via internet i have this error

    The connection has timed out

The server at 41.204.105.165 is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
        moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
        connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

i think i can't access my FTP server via internet
plz can someone here help me

    this is my network

    INTERNET–------------>>>PFSENSE---------------->>> LAN(FTP  SERVER)
dynamic IP                        WAN IP:41.204.105165          LAN IP:192.168.123.0/253
                                          IP:PFSENSE :192.168.123.254

    sorry i'm newbie

thanks in advance for all your help

You need at least a port forward rule to forward TCP access to port 21 (FTP) on WAN IP address to your ftp server. Otherwise the FTP access gets to pfSense where it is (probably) blocked by default WAN firewall rule.

To add on to that, if you are connecting through a firewall, or a NAT of any sort, while connecting to your ftp server, you should use passive mode FTP.
FTP in normal mode will connect over port 21 as a control port, and send data to a random high number port. Since this port is arbitrary, and unsolicited (from the firewalls prospective) it will be dropped, although some firewalls are clever enough to deal with ftp.

I have to assume he got it working from a port forward aspect atleast?

          Connected to 41.204.105.165.

Or maybe his IP address changed and this is someone else that has ftp open? ;)
