Why is the WAN the first interface when installing on version 2.0.1?

  • Why is the WAN the first interface when installing on version 2.0.1?

I have the LAN and WAN ports of my interfaces on all of my routers labeled.

The first interface (since I use Intel NICs) is em0 and for the LAN and em1 is the WAN.
I believe in convention over configuration so it upsets me that this is changed.

Do you find yourself unable to change the port assignments once the system is running then?

  • because WAN is the only required interface. WAN is the only interface on single interface appliance-type deployments. Nothing prevents you from assigning em1 as WAN and em0 as LAN.
