The good news (noted elsewhere already) is that since the latest build I no longer get these pesky crash reports with various messages about deprecated functions, etc.

The bad news is, hence the new thread, that after the upgrade the package install process didn't finish cleanly, even haver 7h uptime, I still had the banner on the dashboard that packages are being installed. An extra reboot fixed this issue.

After the firmware upgrade, the console output would have shown the error that resulted in that failure.

Next time you upgrade, don't reboot, but check the console (if it's serial, leave it connected and logging during the upgrade) and the error should be shown there.

Unless we know what package failed and why, we can't fix it, those problems aren't problems in the base system code, it's something in one of your packages that didn't happen as expected.

Didn't happen with the latest build

          2.1-BETA0 (amd64)
built on Sat Jul 7 19:53:29 EDT 2012
          FreeBSD 8.3-RELEASE-p3

but the bandwidthd package still complains about the split() function being deprecated or something like that.
