      Hi guys,

I have never used freeBSD before so very green to this but like PFsense ;-). I am looking to replace my adsl cisco router with a linux/BSD firewall for all the extra features. I want to build a small machine (ideally ITX - wanted IPMI but oh well) that is supported as a FW and AP. I have done some research and the below seems good to me but I need a PCI-E that wil work with hostap - i cannot find much info on this.

      ADSL PCI

      NIC Module

      Supported (http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=2765.msg%25msg_id%25)

COM 1 as console <<–-- read this can be done.

      can someone give any advice?

      Thanks

The base three lan module is Realtek, and it heavily loads the CPU.  A little lower is a Intel 3 lan module and it will work much better.

As for the motherboard, I have not used that one so I can not say for sure if the nics are supported.  I am running about 70% success on the Atom motherboards with nic support.

No clue on the DSL board.

I have never seen a "card" that makes a better AP than a good AP.  So right now I have an EnGenius EAP300N plugged into an Ethernet port.  Less headaches…

Ditto.  I use Apple AirPorts though.

              I can break anything.
