      Hi!

Im using PFSense "2.0.1-RELEASE (amd64) built on Mon Dec 12 18:16:13 EST 2011" with 2 Realtek NICs.  The system worked correctly for more than 120 days.

Now, it crashes every 1 or 2 days, and in the console I see the following messages:

      re1: PHY Write failed
      re1: reset never completed.

To fix it, I have to shut down the system, wait for 2 or 3 minutes, and turn it on again.  If I turn it on before those 2 or 3 minutes, the re1 card isn't found.

Any ideas?  Maybe a faulty NIC?  What else can I try?

      Thanks!

Get a boot disk and run memtestx86 on it for a few passes.  In most cases, issues like this are bad ram or a bad power supply.  If memtest says the ram is good but crashes overnight, try the power supply.
