I want to upload a couple driver files to the pfsense box, how can I do that? …ftp??

its not the conf files I want to transfer so I don't think I can use the backup/restore feature.

system -> advanced enable -> secure shell

then use winscp to upload

I knew I'd seen it before, but I couldn't find the thread.

For anyone who picks up this tread in the future, use root to login to winscp not admin.
