On the WAN firewall rule setup a rule that is any/protocol any/source any/port to WAN address on port 80/443 (preferably 443). Or you can setup a ipsec VPN (most new smartphones can create a tunnel or there is free software to establish the link).

It might not be the best idea to open up the firewall to allow anything in although that might be the easiest way. It is all depending on how much you care about security and how much work you are willing to put into it. Like podilarius said, you can use IPsec if you have got a smartphone that supports it and you want to use it. Otherwise it's relatively easy to set up OpenVPN to connect to your network and with that you could also access any local resource you might have on the network.

That video works great as a tutorial on how to set it up. RoadWarrior has also got a written tutorial on how to set it up if that would be easier to follow. Good Luck!

i follow all the steps of RoadWarrior article and youtube videos about openVPN.
I have completed all step but I am facing a problem that is:
On final steps i install openvpn(software for windows) and paste config files(take from pfsense>openvpn) in
                C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config
then i launch openvpn program and then press connect button on program.
According to videos and article now i should connect with lan of pfsense.
                But Now :
                My current status: connecting
noting is showing on notepad type box.
Attachment picture is showing the detail.

So I see from title of your config that your on udp 1194 (default for openvpn)  But is this port open from where your at?  Is it open to your pfsense box running openvpn..  You sure your not behind a double nat?

I access my pfsense box from pretty anywhere, but I have changed mine to listen on tcp 443 (ssl port)  Which normally no matter where your at if they have internet access would be open.

Are you behind a proxy where you at?  This can also be an issue - pfsense does allow bouncing off a proxy.  But the client has to be configured for that.

When you say you copied and pasted the config?  Do you mean you used the export package?  What did you export to your client?

If your not seeing anything in that box I would have to think that there is something wrong with the install on the client machine of the openvpn client.
