• I had an August 23rd build of amd64. I ran the auto-upgrade from the web interface. The result is this:
    2.1-BETA0 (i386)
built on Tue Sep 4 16:39:17 EDT 2012
    FreeBSD 8.3-RELEASE-p4

Please advise on how to go back to amd64.

  • Save config … re-install ... restore config.

This is a way of almost all 64bit upgrades. You need to check your updater setting to make sure they are not i386.

  • You are right, the updater string was for i386. It was probably a leftover from a previous i386 install that I reinstalled to amd64 about a week ago.

Would it be possible to include an architecture check for the updater page, in case someone as stupid as me does the same thing?

  • That is not a bad idea.
