Noob question on how to tackle problem

  • I have been using pf for a while now but I am not intimately familiar with the innards (noob) so I appreciate the help of y'all more experienced networkers.

I have a connection that has a monthly limit of 250GB/mo. This is enforced via a rolling 30-day window of 8GB/day. If I do not remain within that my ISP will throttle my connection speed to "turtle" and in this case it has nothing to do with ninjas or teens.

During 4 hours of each day I can download as much as I want and it does not count toward my quota for the month.

What mechanisms can use to ensure I stay within my limits for the month and still take advantage of the no-limits period?

    Thanks again for your help.

Four consecutive hours with a fixed start time? If not, which four hours?
