My apologies if this has already been addressed, but I couldn't find anything in a search through the forums.

I simply want to have an "alias" name for another existing domain name, so as to get two domain names to point to the same host.  (i.e. myhost.mydomain and myalias.mydomain both will be resolved to the same host machine)

We do this at work for hosting information intranet pages, but I am not sure how its done…

I am kind of a networking rookie so if you can explain what is actually being done along with your proposed solution, that would be much appreciated :)

Are you using DNS forwarder in pfSense? If so, just add host override entries.
