At my sites we use the hyphen "-" character in host names - rt-01 is router number 1, ap-01 is WiFi access point 01, dc-01 is domain controller 01 etc.
The hyphen is acceptable in host names in DNS, including DNS Forwarder Host Overrides etc.
But I can't use the hyphen in Firewall Alias names. I have to call them rt_01 ap_01 etc.
Is there a special reason for this? Or would it be easy to allow "-" in a Firewall Alias name?

As the Greek philosopher Isosceles used to say, "There are 3 sides to every triangle."

they're directly translated into pf with those names and pf doesn't allow characters we don't allow.
