I have a PCEngines alix2d13 which I run pfsense on.  Currently running 2.0.1-RELEASE.  Right now I have wireless running via an old dlink wireless router connected on OPT1 as an access point.  It works for the most part but that router is slowly dying and will need to be replaced.

I am looking for a minipci wireless card, a specific model, that I can buy and be assured that it will work.  The faster the card and the more recent the better.  I have read that N support is not really feasible and that's fine.  But if 802.11G is available then that's great.

Also once I get the recommended card how would I go about setting it up?

The Compex WLM54SAG23 worked for me. Mine didn't come with cable and antenna, so be prepared to purchase that separately.

I have this one, and it works fine (just don't enable the traffic shaper in the interface, that drove me nuts)

Configuration is fairly simple for the basics, you can bridge it to another interface or set it up on its own subnet

If it ain't broke, you haven't tampered enough with it

I've used the CM9 and the WLM54G cards from Netgate successfully:
