DHCP Service OOM

Hey folks,
I think I discovered some sort of fatal memory consumption with the builtin dhcp service of 2.0.1-RELEASE (i386). I used the on board dhcpd to serve IPs to the clients. It worked as desired with reserved addresses and some dynamic pool…for three days or so. The RRD graphs were showing sawtooth like graphs. Everything worked but the dhcpd!
Then I migrated the service away from pfSense on some HP Server and configured dhcp forwarding from the pfSense box to this server running Ubuntu 12.04. The last 40 days the memory consumption was quite normal (box.com "cloud"space):

pfSense runs on some ALIX board with 256M of RAM. The memtest was okay.
Has somebody encountered this strange behaviour?

How many clients? If you have a lot of clients or a large amount of lease turnover, ALIX may not have enough RAM or space for the DHCP leases file to keep up.
