Can anyone comment on these? http://www.hacom.net/catalog/phoenix-it-100-pfsense-appliance

Pretty much exactly what I am looking for a remote office with one user to run an IPSec VPN tunnel back to the main office.

Googled around and searched the forums but nothing much to be found.

      Thanks,

      Lonney.

Never tried one, but why not just get an Alix 2D13? About the same price with a wireless card and you get three nics that are not made by realtek and double the memory. The only reason I could see to get one would be if you were running something like squid and needed the hard drive, but in that case you'd need to upgrade the memory also. (Docs say it's not upgradeable, but it looks like a standard socket) The Alix can run a HDD, but hardly anyone does because there's no room in standard cases for one.

Thanks for the info, I was looking at Alix this morning, but didn't notice the one with 3 Ethernet ports!

I'd get the ALIX instead because of RAM if nothing else. 128 MB is very minimal, that'll only run the defaults out of the box on a smallish network. Having 256 MB RAM goes much further.

Just ordered the ALIX kit. I liked the Hacom unit, but decided against it because of the minimal amount of memory.
