First of all. I possess nearly 0 BSD skills. I would like to know how I would go about clearing out the IMSpector logs, via command line or gui.

Also, I have another problems with the display of the logs. Whoever I chat with will have a high-level entry in the gui, and I think that this is only happening for Yahoo. For example, if I had a chat with 'bob' the logs would look kinda like this:

      Yahoo

          bob
            »2007-07-03
            »2007-07-04
        bob
          2007-07-03
            »undefined
          2007-07-04
            »undefined

This makes it seem like bob had a conversation with '2007-07-03' and then again '2007-07-04'. Is that a known issue? And why does it only happen with Yahoo?

This is a bug in imspector itself. However I think development on imspector has basically stopped. I had done some coding for the AIM protocol, but don't know anything about the other protocols.. Feel free to contact the author http://www.imspector.org/ and if he fixes the bug I will update the package.

You will find the logs in /var/imspector/

just rm -rf the directories you want to remove….oh I have noticed the bug on Yahoo logs too, it affects logging to mysqld as far as I can recall as well.

              Regards

I can verify that the 0.5 version fixed the strange conversation bug.  0.6 is stable and now includes jabber support as well.  If someone can update the package repository that would be awesome.

Anybody willing to update imspector to the latest version in the package list?

The latest version has allot of improvements, also SSL logging (for new chat clients with ssl support)
