Proper configuration

Hola..

Just curious if i messed this up somewhere

i will layout what i input into the isp gateway and then into the router box

192.168.0.254 is what i assigned it

then i assigned 192.168.0.40
                    255.255.255.0
                    192.168.0.254

When i pointed a machine at .254 gw and .40 dns it wont resolve the internet.

What did i do incorrectly?

More clarity needed. Where are you inputing those numbers?
