      Hi

I am experiencing a minor problem on my PfSense 2.0 (amd64) install.

The logfile keeps reporting: FILTERDNS : host_dns: failed looking up "BNP": hostname nor servname provided, or not known

I have downloaded my configuration and searched for BNP, but it's not in my conf. I think it might be because of a bug since i made a mistake at one point when i entered BNP in an alias before correcting it.

But how do I make the error go away? Any ideas? I haven't rebootet my firewall because it's a production environment.

      edit:
      snip from my log:

        Check /var/etc/filterdns.conf

That should be populated by the contents of the aliases and such though. If it's not in an alias any longer, it should be gone from there as well.

Maybe if you "killall -9 filterdns" it'll stop, save/apply in aliases should restart it, I believe.

in /var/etc/filterdns.conf theres a line saying: pf BNP Access_to_BNP_test

can i just delete this entry? theres no trace of the description anywhere in my config.

You can, though I'd keep an eye on it, especially after the next reboot, to make sure it doesn't come back.
