Pfsense on a Firebox 1000 (F3064H)?
is it possible to install pfsense on such a box and if yes makes it sense. Seems not to be the fastest processor.
I've opened the box but there is no CF Card like in the X750E. But I've found a IDE connection.
After connecting to the console I only see the LILO bootloader but I can't see a possibility to enter the bios.
Any hints would be appreciated.
Those boxes had some sort of on board flash I seem to recall. However it's very small so you have to add some storage yourself via the IDE connector (CF adapter or HD). Is that the firebox II or III?
There used to be a great web page detailing installation of m0n0wall on these but it's seems to have gone dark now. :'(
Thanks to the way back machine it's still available ;D:
They are quite low powered these days probably not worth the effort for any sort of production but as an educational exercise could be fun. There has been some effort put into writing a driver for the front panel LEDs relatively recently.
Edit: Looks like that's actually a firebox III model in which case:

thank you for your reply.
Will check it.
