I have pfSense running a virtual machine (VMware) on a Windows Server 2008 host.  The time on the host is synched with time.nist.org.  In pfSense, the time is always slow.  I can set to be correct by rebooting the physical machine, but after about 1 minute of uptime, the time gets slower and slower, and usually stops at -20 minutes.  This is causing problems with certificates going across the network.

I've tried setting the date manually with date, and I've tried changing the time server in System>General Setup.

      ??? ??? ??? ???

Assuming you're running v 2.0.1 or older, you could consider upgrading to 2.0.2 or 2.1-BETA

          Also check the following thread:

You can also try adjusting the timecounter on pfSense, search around the forum for "kern.timecounter.hardware" you should find some info on changing it. (It's also covered in the book)
