Hooks…

pfSense Requested Extensions
Extensions automatically install and add their hooks into the OS as needed. We will provide hooks for various items listed here. After the extension is installed, respective menu items will automatically appear.

This message, I saw in http://wiki.pfsense.com/wikka.php?wakka=RequestedExtensions&show_comments=1 site. Currently, I am looking into DansGuardian, VNSTAT, SNORT and Bandwidth Management (Fixed Bandwidth per client)….

How do I get these things.... Where should I look for ? Any kind of help of hint will be highly appreciated.

system -> packages

(Dansguardian) Squidguard will sometime this year be available….....
vnstat is a linux only thing as fare as I know......

I am using Embedded Version….. System -> Package is not there....

I installed the VNSTAT files into Embedded Image... vnstat is working fine. But, if it is already available... then I need not be reinventing the wheel right ?

Packages are not officially supported on embedded platforms due to limited hardware resources.
If you want to run snort and alike you better use the regular install on decent hardware.
