Router issues multiple public ip addresses, best way to configure interfaces
-
Got a router which is configured to assign a block of public IP address to each device plugged into it.
Router
[Public IP Address] as gateway
|- Device 1 [Public IP Address +1]
|- Device 2 [Public IP Address +2]
etc etc.So I have added a nic for each public ip address and created an interface for each nic.
Type static, IP Address = one of the public ip addresses assigned by the router/24. Gateway = NoneI have tried assigning the router ip address as a gateway and whilst this works for the 1st nic I try, pfsense warns me in the system log the 2nd and subsequent nics gateway ie the router ip address is duplicated and resorts back to NONE for the gateway.
When I try to setup a new gateway for each nic, I also get the warning "The gateway IP address "w.x.y.z" already exists." which seems to confirm I cant use the router's ip address again quite conclusively!
The rules I have setup for the different wan interfaces dont work, only the wan interface assigned the router ip address works so what is the best way to configure each interface? Virtual IP's perhaps?
