Bandwidth limit based on Wan Destination / Origin
-
I recently set up a PfSense box based on an HP ST5742 thin client(completely fanless), that I modded to add a hard drive and a dual-port server NIC.
It runs pretty good and I use it to limit the bandwidth to my TV (PER IP) to 1Mb/s.. otherwise the TV will suck up my entire pitiful 1.5Mb connection.
My question is: Is it possible to limit all traffic on the WAN that is only going to or originating from Netflix's servers?
For example if the TV was streaming data from Netflix the firewall would limit it to 1Mb/s regardless of what IP the TV had.
Thanks in advance.. loving pfsense so far

Yup. If you know the port its better, but it is possible. I limit everything that is not http, smtp and a few other protocols to 90% of my connection.

How would I go about setting up the limiter / firewall rule for something like that?

I use the wizard to setup my initial settings, then I manually adjust any fine tuning. The wizard has a place to limit P2P. I make sure to use that and then adjust it higher manually.
I have not used limiters so I cannot help you there.
