      Hello,

If I set up an internet connection with static IP and make it 'Tier 1' in Gateway Groups, then set up a PPPoE connection and put this in 'Tier 2', will the PPPoE connection still be pingable (assuming the firewall rules allow this) while the it is not being actively used by the Gateway Group?

Gateways are always kept up as much as they can be, and are constantly monitored. Being in a gateway group doesn't trigger anything special about monitoring.
