    Dansguardian permission error

      I am getting this error and not sure where it is referring to. any help would be great.
      dansguardian[91397]: Error opening/creating log file. (check ownership and access rights).

        What permissions you have on /var/log?

          it is showing it as 2000 2001

              any reason why it might have changed? I did have it working yesterday but never changed permissions.

                I have no idea… :( did you installed 2.13.0.3_1 via pkg_add?

                  no I'm actually running 2.12.0.3 I'm on 2.1 I did uninstall and reinstall using the packages to try and fix the issue…

                    /usr/sbin/chown root:wheel /var/log can fix file permission

                      that didn't fix it. I noticed that squid is proxy would that matter?

                      Also found this error not sure if this has anything to do with it.

                      php: /pkg_edit.php: The command '/usr/local/etc/rc.d/dansguardian.sh start' returned exit code '1', the output was 'kern.ipc.somaxconn: 16384 -> 16384 kern.maxfiles: 131072 -> 131072 kern.maxfilesperproc: 104856 -> 104856 kern.threads.max_threads_per_proc: 4096 -> 4096 Starting dansguardian. Error opening/creating log file. (check ownership and access rights). I am running as clamav and I am trying to open /var/log/dansguardian/access.log /usr/local/etc/rc.d/dansguardian.sh: WARNING: failed to start dansguardian'

                      fixed this issue but now cannot extract blacklist states cannot find dir.

                        try to reapply the blacklist.

                        Check if clamav user exists on your system.

                        check if /usr/local/pkg/blacklist.tbz needs permission fix too.

                        after fixing all permissions, try a save config and see if it changes something.
                        then try a reboot to see if clamav users still exists.
