Is Memstick version able to run as "LIVE" ?
-
I already have a 2.0.1 installation working well on older hardware.
For testing purposes I want to run the same version on a different system - but don't want to install it to HDD. I know I can use the CD-LIVE version and run all in memory (saving config to floppy, memory stick etc) but I would like to be able to keep the config and simply boot back into configured system.
Installing the memstick version on a USB flash drive seems ideal, if it can run without installing to HDD. The wording on the version descriptions states:
"Starting with pfSense 2.0 the Live CD is also available in a USB memstick version that works identically to the Live CD."
Does this mean you can run it as LIVE (without installing to HDD) or does it mean it has the full functionality of the CD version but has to be installed to HDD? (If it works as "LIVE" can you save the config to the same USB flash drive?
Sorry if this seems a stupid question - but I have searched and can find no definitive answer. If the memstick version is identical should it not be called "LIVE-MEMSTICK" to be consistent?

Yes, it can run live just like the CD.
It is the CD. Just in a memstick format.
