    2.0.2-RELEASE (amd64)

I keep doing something wrong… I currently have Dansguardian (2.12.0.3 pkg v.0.1.7_3) and Squid3 (3.1.20 pkg 2.0.6) installed.  When I try to enable Snort (2.9.2.3 pkg v. 2.5.4) everything comes to a halt.  I'm thinking I have an issue with the install order.  What is the preferred method/order to installing all three packages?  Do I configure each package after installing, make sure it works, then install the next package or do I need to install, configure and enable the packages all at once?

    Thanks.

        Hello marcelloc,
        Thank you for your assistance.
I've installed Snort, configured it, and it is running.
I tried to install Dansguardian but the installation process seems to get stuck at:

Checking Dansguardian Blacklists... One moment please...
Found previous blacklist database, skipping download...

Nothing happens.  I've let the system sit for about 10 minutes and no change.  Do I have to manually delete some files and then retry the install for Dansguardian?

        Thanks

            /usr/local/www/blacklist.tgz does not exist. (?)

            I do have a blacklist.tgz at:
            /usr/local/etc/dansguardian/lists/blacklist.tgz
            /usr/local/pkg/blacklist.tgz

            Thanks.

So I delete /usr/local/pkg/blacklist.tgz then try to do a package reinstall.  Snort then stops working and pfS thinks the package is installed but it does not show up in the Services menu but it is visible under Installed Packages.

First install and configure Squid. Then install Snort and ensure the config is working. Reboot is recommended. Once you confirm everything is working.. in the end install Dansguardian.

Is there a preference as to whether I install Squid3 or Squid?

                  Thx.

EDIT:  So far so good.  Squid3 and Snort are installed, configured, rebooted a few times, and it's still working.  I'll try Dansguardian a little later tonight.

                  EDIT2: And it's a no-go.  When I try to install Dansguardian I get:
Checking Dansguardian Blacklists… One moment please...
Found previous blacklist database, skipping download...
so I delete /usr/local/pkg/blacklist.tgz and then I get:
Checking Dansguardian Blacklists… One moment please...
                  Fetching blacklist

and it freezes.  How can I specify which blacklist to initially download?  I have a feeling I've downloaded the bigblacklist.tar.gz too many times (URLBlacklist.com) this week and their SQL server is now freezing me out.   ???

                  Thanks

Is there a log I can look at that will help me ascertain the cause of the freeze during install of Dansguardian?

                    thx

                      ping…

Any ideas, anyone, on how to get past the freeze/stuck when installing Dansguardian?  It will get stuck if there is a blacklist already on the system (from a previous install attempt) or not.  Any fresh install or even a re-install will result in a stuck or freeze situation.

                      Thank you.

Alright. Painful as it was I did a fresh, clean install.  Installed squid (not squid3), then snort and finally Dansguardian.  I also  rebooted between each package install.  The Dans GUI didn't show up on the webconfigurator menu so I then reinstalled the GUI portion.  All good now.  Thx for the assistance.
