I have a cable modem ISP which gives us a fixed IP and an ADSL that gives as dinamic. Can it be configured this way or the ADSL MUST be fixed IP??
I have a d-link 604 router which I could use to dial the connection with the ADSL modem and thus give that connection a fixed IP (at least in Pfsense's eyes).
In general terms, how would you do this? How can I adapt the faqs & wikis about the subject to my particular configuration?

set your modem into bridge and configure the WAN as PPPoE.
you can get your dynamic IP from ADSL directly on PfSense.

add an Opt and configure your static IP on this one.

you can have failover and loadbalancing. look up the doc's on this.

We do what we must, because we can.

Some ISP's will only give your 1 IP, so even if your can set the modem/router to bridge it won't work.

Not sure I'm following you, Perry. If the DSL modem is working with a DL 604, pfSense should be able to bring up the line via PPPoE and get a public IP on the WAN.

Maybe i was a bit to fast here, but i do have PPPoA connection where it can't be done.

There can be many ways your adsl modem is setup
A DHCP ip that doesn't change if your modem is online all the time
              A PPPoE line
              A PPPoA line
Maybe it does nat for your

              So no :D

Ok guys, you totally lost me… I'm studing CCNA 3 now but I'm totally lost with what I should do.

Could someone PLEASE give me a very general guide on how to do it? General, not specific. So I can adapt the faq on http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Multi_WAN_/_Load_Balancing to my situation... (Cable modem with a static IP and ADSL with dynamic... I can use a linksys modem to give a fixed IP to the ADSL connection, if that is of some use).
Please, A LOT depends on me being able to pull this one out and I'm totally lost

I would follow the guide, but set WAN for PPPoE using your username/password and set the Cable static IP on the OPT1 interface. There used to be some issues with PPPoE and load-balancing, I think these were fixed. I haven't tried it lately, as I now get all my DSL's with a /29 block and use a public for the router, so the WAN is straight static.

OK. So can anyone confirm that the issues with PPPoe and failover - load balancing have been fixed or not?

You should be using http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/MultiWanVersion1.2 if your pfsense verision is 1.2
