      Hi everybody

I'm trying to install pfsense 2.0.2 on a Supermicro 5017C-URF Server with an Intel® C216 PCH chipset. The disks are two Plextor M5Pro with 256GB.
I would like to create a raid1 with the internal RAID Controller on the mainboard. The problem is, that everytime when i try to install, it says, "the installer could not find any disks suitable for installation".

Now i tried to install it on one disk only an it works.

So if i connect one disk on the 6GB-Sata3 port it doesn't work and with a raid 1 configured on sata2 or sata3 ports it doesn't work. the only way is, on one disk on a sata2 port.

what should i do that it works with a raid?

      Thank you for your help!!

        Hi,

pfSense don't have drivers for your RAID-controller onboard. Look at this: http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Create_a_Software_RAID1_%28gmirror%29

Your ports are in AHCI-mode or still all in RAID?

Thank you for your answer. For the moment, they were in raid mode, than i changed them to ahci and set up pfSense on one single disk. The problem is that i would like to ensure that if one disk fails the firewall could work further without downtime…

do that work fine with gmirror?
