Traffic shaping on schedule?
-
Hi Everyone,
I am a new user to pfsense, I am currently running IPCop which has been great for years now (literally the uptime is silly). The time has come to switch away from this solution as i have out grown its ability's. So in looking for something polished i have come across pfsense. I installed this over the weekend on a test bed and have started configuring some basic things on it to test if it will fit my requirements.
I have a query around the traffic shaper, i am on Virgin Media UK (ISP) what my provider does is to check your transfer limit, if you transfer more than 3 gigabytes of data from 00:00 till 00:00, your bandwidth between the hours of 16:00 untill 23:59 is capped to 5mpb/s down and 256kbp/s up, at which time the bandwidth returns till its full capacity of 20mbp/s and 768kbps, until the conditions time is between 16:00 and 23:59 and transfered data > 3 gigabytes.
At present the way i tackle this is with a cron job to adjust my bandwidth in my shaper script to a fixed 5mpb/s and 256k between 16:00 and 23:59.
Is there any way i could use a scheduled rule in pfsense to do this, or better have a way of taking into account data transmitted AND time?

Been exploring pfsense more (and tearing my hair out over captive portal, ill post about that later). It would appear that traffic shaping rules by schedule are not in pfsense so ill go and write some shell scripts instead. Consider this topic closed.
