Connection to Dropbox
-
Running 2.0.3-RELEASE (i386)
Client PC's with the Dropbox client installed continually receive "Can't establish secure connection".
Dropbox uses standard internet ports (80 and 443) to transfer data.
I recently switched a client from the LAN connection to a guest WIFI connection on a seperate IP without a pfSense box on it and it connects to Dropbox just fine.
I thought the default LAN firewall rules allowed 80 and 443 through by default.
What am I missing experts? Thanks for the help in advance.

"What am I missing experts?"
Umm hmm lets see - information that would help us help you for starters ;)
If pfsense was blocking 443, then you would not be able to access ANY https site.
What are you using for dns? Opendns, GoogleDns, your ISP? Are you using a proxy? A simple google for that error points to a opendns problem a while ago that caused that error.
I would do a sniff of the traffic, verify your solving where your trying to go correctly, etc.
the default rules would allow anything from lan net to ANY – have you altered these rules using pfblocker or any other sort of addon? etc.. etc..

I apologize wasting everyone's time with this thread.
It was OpenDNS. Something I should have checked immediately. Crazy week.
Have a good one.

We all sometimes overlook the stupid stuff, not a big deal - and you didn't waste anyone's time. People are here to help, or be helped, etc.
Glad you got it sorted!

I assume it was a cert error with OpenDNS. Although they say that's how it should work, I've had to drop their service for anything vert-related because it just doesn't work.
