SATA disk on Watchguard Fireguard X-Core-e

Anyone knows of this machine can boot from a SATA PCI adapter?

I doubt anyone has tried, it's hard enough to make it boot from IDE. Knowing how quirky the bios is I wouldn't hold out much hope.
Also there is no mini-PCI-e slot on the X-Core-e so that adapter definitely won't work. (without a further adapter!)

So, it's a regular PCIe slot?. I'm trying to find that ECS caddy with IDE adapter, but IDE drives will be increasingly difficult to find, so future HDD replacement will be annoying at best..
Have two of this appliances, still had no opportunity to even boot them..

Any reason you want to use a HD instead of CF?

To be able to install the non embedded version of pfSense, having the addons at hand..

Most packages are available to some extent under NanoBSD.
You will probably need to flash the bios using a CF card anyway (though you can use the included card for that). I would recommend at least trying the nano images first as they are so much easier.Steve
