I am using the package called Mailreport, and I would like to know if there is a way to add in a report command to have it send emails on power loss/power restore, connection loss and then restoration? Obviously  I know it can not loose power then tell me, but when it regains power or internet connection it could send me a notification telling me that it just happened. My area has a lot of power issues and knowing if it is happening often would be beneficial in deciding on what kind of UPS to purchase for the business.

The package only sends timed reports. What you want is more like the system notifications that send a message when an event happens.

We don't have anything that would send e-mail on power loss/restore, but that is handled via the NUT package. It may have some way to run a command if you need it.

Having an alert sent out for power-related issues would indeed  be quite useful I think!  Also to tie in to this, it's good to get the alert for gateway failures but I do think it would be beneficial to also get an 'alert' when the failed gateway goes back online
