felt i needed to ask about this.
i am trying to add pico editor to pfsense embedded but it keeps failing
    'var file system is full
    is this to be expected.

i was also hoping to add quagga for testing as well.

is there any way of adding these to my embedded image or adding them to my developer build of the embedded image

The embedded images are only the size they need to be as there is no packagesupport but you might try the following:

      http://wiki.pfsense.com/wikka.php?wakka=FlashHowTo
(Not sure if that still apllies to the last versions as this was written long times ago in a galaxy far far away but try it and let us know)

/var is a ramdisk so it sounds like you're running out of ram.

does not bode well for the wrap board then 128 mb ram is all it has. i will try making the image bigger and see if that helps

memory does not drop below 70 MB free ram. i think some issue in configuration.
i noticed i had no trouble adding the files to my harddrive versions

oh well back to the drawing board
